A few smart habits will keep your surfaces looking new for years. Here’s a no-nonsense care plan you (and your clients) can actually stick to.

Ceramic & Porcelain: Keep It Simple
Warm water is your safest everyday cleaner; add a mild detergent when needed, and swap the bucket water frequently so you’re not just redistributing dirt. Skip soap (it leaves a film), acids like vinegar or ammonia, abrasive pads, and bleach—they dull finishes and can yellow grout.
Natural Stone: Seal, Then Treat It Gently
All natural stone should be sealed to protect the finish and extend its life. Use only stone-specific cleaners; the rule of thumb is to avoid anything you wouldn’t use on your hands. Avoid acids (including vinegar and many glass cleaners), and skip powdered or “soft scrub” abrasives that can etch or scratch.
Grout: Seal It, Don’t Soak It
Seal grout against moisture and debris, then maintain it like tile: dry sweep/vacuum and wipe with clean water (mild detergent if needed). Steer clear of soap, acids, ammonia, and bleach—especially on white grout. If you see cracking or chipping, fix it early to prevent water intrusion and bigger repairs.
Bermuda Bonus: Plan for Moisture & Sun
Outdoor areas need slip-resistant tile and, in some cases, a crack-isolation membrane; wet areas indoors should get waterproofing before tile goes down. Tile and stone are a natural fit for our island’s humidity and heat—durable, attractive, and easy to care for when you choose the right product for the job.
